Zoom Host

Overview:

Attend classes given by CSL Midtown and operate Zoom for the facilitator.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the class facilitator to know what’s going to be required during each class, i.e., making sure you’ve the visuals needed.
  • Let students in the class and keep attendance.
  • Monitor the chat line for appropriateness and questions.
  • Be functional with various Zoom functions such as assigning administrators, showing your desktop, making break-out rooms, using the white board feature. Information on all these features can be found at Hosting Meetings – Zoom Support.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Good overall knowledge of Zoom.
  • Willingness to learn the features of Zoom that you are not proficient in, and to do so prior to classes.
  • Excellent communication skills, in-person and by email.
  • A basic knowledge of Science of Mind terminology.
  • Be versatile with a computer, including internet operation.

Time Commitment:

Most classes are six weeks, and each class is two hours. You may be required to have a conversation with the facilitator prior to classes to discuss what may be required. Currently, there are two or three classes per year. If you want credit for taking the class, then your class price will be half. There may be one-off one- to two-hour workshops that you may be asked to volunteer for yet won’t be required to.

Audio Visual Technician

Overview:

We all enjoy the seamless use of media in our service. The volunteer in this position ensures that the equipment is set up and functional for 11:00 Sunday service and that the sound is clear.

Responsibilities:

After on-the-job training, this volunteer works independently on Sunday mornings, and must be able to do the following:

  • Sets up and takes down the AV equipment before the service. This includes laptops, a microphone, and cameras.
  • May be required to cut out the music out of the recorded service and post the service on PodBean and YouTube. (This is much easier than it may sound.)
  • Works with the Center’s broadcast service in the effort to make all our technology work as seamlessly and effectively as possible.

Basic Qualifications:

An interest in helping to make our Sunday Celebration service a wonderful success through gaining a thorough knowledge of running the audio/visual equipment.

Time Commitment:

3 hours per service at least once a month in coordination with the audio/visual lead. You are required to arrive by 9:30 a.m., and tear down after service, which is approximately 12 noon.

Greeter/Usher

Overview:

Greeting people as they enter the meeting space is more than a handshake and a smile. It is an opportunity to help set the tone for their visit. The greeter team plays a vital role in helping make a great first impression!

  • Arrive at least 40 minutes before the Celebration.
  • Perform the checklist (restrooms, bulletins, collection baskets, sign-up sheets)
  • Greet all who arrive, introduce yourself
  • Provide information to newcomers
  • Assist with name tags which continue to follow COVID protocols
  • During the Celebration, observe the group and help anyone who needs assistance, with extra attention to guests
  • Assist in counting donations
  • After the Celebration, collect programs and unused envelopes.
  • Invite everyone to return

Basic Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Friendly and outgoing; willing to start conversations.
  • A basic knowledge of Science of Mind terminology.

Time Commitment:

2 hours per Celebration at least once a month. Please arrive by 10:20 a.m. to set up and stay to clean up afterward.
