”I’ve worked all my life on the subject of awareness, whether it’s awareness  of the body, awareness of the mind, awareness of your emotions, awareness  of your relationships or awareness of your environment,  I think the key to transforming your life is to be aware of who you are.”                               Deepak Chopra

Most of us experience becoming alert that a period of time has lapsed when we have dulled down and not particularly been aware of our surroundings.  This may have even occurred in a group and we knew it was beyond just not paying attention to the conversation at hand.  That may have caused some embarrassment or teasing when someone asked what we were thinking about and there was no answer to be found.   Somehow you knew that you had simply left all awareness as to what was going on.

Previously it was thought that the person having this experience was disinterested in the happenings around them even if the assembly of people represented an important business meeting or a family gathering of those who were loved.  Some thought it just occurred with those who lacked sufficient discipline to stay mentally connected with the event at hand.

While these examples may occur for all of us they are quite different from the practice of intended focus which can reduce the frequency of these nonproductive lapses AND can transform us from within.  Winter can be a time of many pleasures for us to focus on as we go about our day.  When taking a walk, you may want to appreciate the barrenness of the ground, the few remaining leaves on the trees, the crispness of the air, and even the damp chill may become a focus of awareness..  The smell of spiced tea and bread in the oven can not only heighten our awareness and may also evoke memories that we cherish.  Our lives are so much richer, fuller when we practice awareness of all that is about us.  That level of awareness may also protect us and keep us walking in the direction intended.  Knowing that we are connected with the One and with All is strengthened as we embrace a heightened state of awareness.

Alex Grey captures the essence of this “The infinite vibratory levels of the dimensions of interconnectedness are without end.  There is nothing Independent.  All beings and things are residents of your awareness.”
